Homework

  • 12 units on Lexia Core 5 this week 

  •  read for 20 minutes each night. Half of the reading time should be out loud. 

  • IXL Third grade C. 6-10,  D.1-4

  • EXTRA CREDIT - type your two paragraphs on pumpkins in Google Drive


Social Studies

We are Moving through the five themes of geography with Michigan as a focus in those discussions.


Reading

We have been focusing our learning on understanding character actions and emotions. We are diving into our text and looking for a deeper understanding of characters. 

  • I am also encouraging students to stick with one book and read it cover to cover. 


Writing

Once again writing notebooks will go home for you to read. This week we worked on a two paragraph piece. The first paragraph is a personal narrative about picking out a pumpkin and the second paragraph is interesting facts about pumpkins.


Math

Our first math standard is 3NBT.  In math we are working on addition and subtraction with regrouping using the traditional method.

  Classroom Blog March 24, 2021 .  Reminder:  Please take your child’s temperature in the morning for health screening.      Meeting Sign UP If at any time you would like to meet please send me an email and I would be happy to meet with you at 8:30am.  Poetry We will be focusing on poetry next week. Students will need to pick a poem to present. They can either do a recording and put it in Google Drive or do it Friday at school.  I am encouraging students to do a two page recording of their reading on the My Guided Readers website. The link is in Google Classroom.   Classroom Blog February 11, 2021 Please Work On At Home : 1) Students are starting their biography projects. They have to read and take notes in their writing notebooks.   2) We are starting Perimeter and Area. Lots of practice will be needed to secure these skills. Please work on IXL DD 3) Please encourage your child to challenge themselves in their book choices. This might mean choosing a longer book or a book with higher vocabulary.  4) Take some time to encourage neat handwriting. Reminder:  Please take your child’s temperature in the morning for health screening. Exciting Activities in Class: We made mini pinball machines (Tinker Crate) today to start our force and motion unit in science. Next week we will be starting a class project, building a Gravitrex Set.
